Our history dates back to 1865 as the First German Methodist Episcopal Church. After
having closed it's doors in the mid-sixties, we were Re-birthed, in 1989 as a church in witness to the Northside community
of the city of Paterson, New Jersey,
St. Philip's is also an officially designated
" Advance Conference Special of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Its stated mission
is to witness to the resurrected Christ and assist in helping the poor of our community improve their quality of life and
to become self-sufficient by addressing the causes as well as the effects of poverty.
St. Philip’s Ministry is a community of
devoted Christians seeking to assist God in His plan of revealing to the world
His love, compassion and to assist in building up the The Kingdom of God in Paterson, N.J.
We serve in the expectation that through our efforts, that Jesus Christ will be recognized as the Savior of the world and will be glorified.
We gather regularly
on Sunday mornings, as well as daily at twelve noon, in order to lift up the name of Jesus
which He is so worthy. We maintain a nurturing and supportive fellowship as preached in the
scripture of the First and Second Testaments.
We share the word of God through the sacraments
of communion and Baptism. Celebrate the life and guidance of Jesus Christ. And encourage spiritual growth,
under the power and authority of the Holy Ghost.
We invite
you to become a part of St. Philip's Ministry of the United Methodist Church today and share a piece of its history
tomorrow because " We declare that the Kingdom of God is here".
